Who we are

AcuarioSano is an independent project run by the AcuarioSano Team, a group of freshwater fishkeeping hobbyists. It grew out of a very common story: setting up a tank, buying the fish the store suggested, and finding out weeks later that they weren’t compatible, the tank was too small or the water was never cycled. So we write fish, plant and shrimp profiles, free calculators and practical guides for beginners, and we compare the gear you can actually buy on Amazon today.

We have no ties to any manufacturer, store or brand in the industry. We do not sell livestock or gear ourselves, and nobody pays us to be listed or to get a better spot on the page.

Methodology

Animal welfare comes before everything else. Here is how we work:

1. Cross-checked species profiles: the data for every fish, plant or invertebrate (adult size, temperature, pH, hardness, behavior, diet) is cross-checked against aquarium literature and reputable references. When sources disagree, we give cautious ranges rather than optimistic numbers.
2. Honest minimum tank sizes: we list the volume the animal needs to live well at its adult size, not the bare minimum it can survive in. If a species outgrows any home aquarium, we say so plainly.
3. Welfare first: we do not recommend unfiltered, unheated bowls, we respect minimum school sizes for schooling species, and we do not recommend species on the EU list of invasive alien species or animals that cannot be kept responsibly at home.
4. Compatibility engine: the stocking calculator applies explicit rules: overlap in temperature, pH and hardness; size difference (a fish that fits in another’s mouth will eventually become food); temperament and territoriality; fin nipping; and whether a species is safe with shrimp and snails. When two species clash, we tell you why.
5. Gear picked on Amazon: we automatically search each country’s Amazon and only show products whose title genuinely matches the product type. Products are ranked by the AcuarioSano rating, which combines the average rating with the number of verified reviews (a high average from a handful of reviews counts for less). There are no brand bonuses.
6. Availability: stock is re-checked automatically every Monday and Thursday. Out-of-stock items are hidden until they come back.

To be upfront: we do not physically test every product. We compare spec sheets, aquarium literature and verified buyer reviews. No brand pays to be featured and we do not accept paid placements. We can still get things wrong, so if you spot a mistake, email us and we will fix it.
